Background: Codename Contra is a derivative piece based on the background music of the video game Contra. In the second season episode six of The Next (Singer), Hua Chenyu accepted a person’s challenge and selected this song as the base to build a rearrangement upon within 24 hours. He used two parts of Contra’s bgm as the main theme and also incorporated some of the video game’s story while writing the lyrics. Ding Yanxue helped fill in some of the lyrics and Zhen Nan further modified the music to make this song.
More Info: Contra is a shooter game in which the player takes the role of a soldier of the Contra unit (an elite group of soldiers specializing in guerrilla warfare) and heads to an island near New Zealand to destroy the enemy forces that are being controlled by an alien entity. This song also incorporates other references.
